Geisha Girl

Well, it's been awhile again since I posted. Busy summer, that's all I can say!

My card today is for the One Layer Simplicity challenge 19-Strip Down-mask a strip down the front of your card and stamp away! Will also enter in the following challenges: Crafty Cardmakers #146-no patterened papers; Get creative challenge #22-no printed papers; Marker Pop challenge #76-Anything goes using markers

I really need to look into a new camera. The one I have just does not do this justice. But it is what it is, right?

I first stamped the geisha girl in momento black, then stamped again on post-it masking tape and cut it out. I placed it over the stamped image on card base and then masked the strip down the front and added Pebbles chalks to form a soft background. I removed the masks and colored the image with Copic markers.

I added some clear Wink of Stella marker to the flowers on the umbrella and kimono, but my camera doesn't capture it well.

Hoot hoot hurray

Back to rain and cold. We seem to be getting summer in little bursts that don't last long. But no severe weather, so I am grateful for that. My heart goes out to those in lower Michigan and elsewhere where they have been getting hit by such severe weather.

Today I have a card that was made with 'scraps' laying on my work table.

The 2 design papers are from the DCWV mat-stack Naturals. It's really hard to see that the designs on the papers are copper metallic. The scraps were from a card I made last week. The owl die-cut (Sizzix die) has been floating around my table since last fall, and he finally found a home :) I highlighted the lines of his wings and neck, and filled in the beak with a Memento brown marker and the center of his eye with a memento black marker. The brown paper he is cut from looks like corduroy-giving him texture. I rubbed some brown chalk on the branch he is standing on. The sentiment is from JustRite stamps 'Owl Be There' stamp set, stamped on SU Very Vanilla cardstock with Brilliance Cosmic Copper ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I punch the sentiment out with SU Decorative label punch, then punched it out of brown paper and cut it in quarters and mounted behind the panel...It's all mounted on a base of dark brown cardstock.  Inside I stamped "It's your birthday'.

Will enter this in the following challenges:

Miss you

As I mentioned a couple of posts back, I really need a new camera. My best camera broke, and I don't know of any place that fixes them. The one I've been using is quite old, and doesn't catch the colors very well. Or maybe it's my editing program, I don't know- but colors are just not quite right. Hmmmmm....

I will enter this card in the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps #107-Bingo (chart above)-Ribbon, die/punch, layers
Crafty Cardmakers #141 for a man or boy
Deep Ocean Challenge #106- Monochrome
The Paper Plunge #48 - He's a manly man
ODBD June OWH Challenge - Missing You

Stamp-Technique Tuesday 'All Aboard'
Papers: DCWV Naturals (the plaid); The Paper Studio (dotted)
Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Verve Sweet Scallop Tag die; Pioneer Letter stickers; K&Co. border sticker; Hot Off the Press Artsy Collage ephmera pad (text image) Copic marker to color edge of distress piece; Inkadinkadoo brown chalk around edge of tag

Comments always welcome!

Coneflowers!

Finally a bit warmer here today. Not that I'm complaining about the cooler weather-I'm not a fan of heat. It's just been so gloomy lately. Sunshine for at least part of the day today-then more rain. Good time to craft, and that's just what I'm going to do. Our craft group is having an 'overnighter' this Friday-Saturday at our church. Not that we sleep over (too old for sleeping on the floor anymore), we all live close enough to just go home when we get tired and return in the morning.

Today's card used the Challenge over at Addicted to stamps challenge #107-Bingo, using the chart below. I'm using the center vertical-Flowers, stamped image, punches/dies. I am also entering this in the Friday Mash-up #214-using the monocromatic theme part of the challenge; the Pink Gem-Challenge #124-Summertime; and the Deep Ocean Challenge #106-Monocrome. Also the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week is anything goes-showcasing Simon Says Products.

Stamped image is from Sweet N' Sassy 'Flowers in Bloom' set, stamped with Momento Black on Gina K Pure Luxury white cardstock, colored with Copics, then die cut with the matching Flowers in bloom die. One of the coneflowers in my garden I thought'd I'd lost to either the rabbits or the deer, but I see it is coming back-darn critters! But I love to see them, too, so I guess as long as they didn't destroy the plant it's all okay;0.
The DP is from  American Crafts-Everyday paper pad. Sentiment from My Favorite Things 'Essential Sentiments' stamped with Versa Color Raspberry on Canson Iced Gold Shimmer cardstock and cut out with Simon Says Stamp's small folded banners. Background mat is SU Strawberry Slush cardstock. Border is the Canson  gold shimmer punched with MS scalloped border punch. I added some tiny CTMH rhinestones to the center of the border flowers.

Hope you like! Please leave a comment-I love hearing from you all.

Hello Friend

I thought I posted this card already, but hadn't-good thing I checked!

The theme at One Layer Simplicity this month is 'Round and Round'-use 2 circles only. I don't do clean and simple usually as I don't do it well. But I like how this card turned out.

I diecut 2 circles overlapped out of a piece of copy paper, then placed it over my card base and sponged Momento Sky Blue ink onto the base. I stamped the Iris image from Penny Black 'Allegro' clear stamp set with Momento Luxe Blue Danube.  The sentiment and dragonfly are from Clear Art Stamps-Wildflowers set. The sentiment stamped in Mom. Black Tuxedo, the dragonfly with Brilliance Galaxy Gold. Border punched the edge of the card with M.S. scalloped border punch. The border stamp (It's either Inkadinkadoo or Fiskars) is stamped in Galaxy Gold.

Doe & Fawn

As I mentioned in my last post, I need a new camera-the background colors for the deer image is no where's near as bright as this, I tried to lighten it out a bit, but then the rest of the colors were too washed out. It really is much nicer in person. Next time I go to town I am getting a new camera!

Sketch Frenzy Friday

The image is from Repeat Impressions-doe & fawn, stamped on Neenah cardstock with Momento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copic markers. I stamped the sentiment, from an old Stampin' Up set, with Tuxedo black on white cardstock and colored it with a cream Copic and trimmed around it with scissors. I used a piece of cardboard that I peeled apart for the kraft background. The border strip is from an old Paper Pizazz paper pack.
I rounded two corners of the panels with a corner punch (the sketch is a sketch frenzy Friday from a couple weeks ago, I reversed the rounded corners to fit my image).

I will enter this in the following challenges:
Sunday Stamps-#103 Neutrals
Crazy 4 Challenges #290-Make it Masculine

For Dad

I am working on my last box of cards for Operation Write Home, as they are winding down and will not accept any more cards after August 1st. While I'm glad our soldiers are being brought home and fewer troops are being deployed 'over there', I NOW NEED TO FIND A NEW PLACE TO SEND MY CARDS!!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Today my card if for a 'Dad'. I've used the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches #128.  I will also enter this in the Creative Knockouts challenge#93-use your stash (the papers-I've had them forEVER!); and the Crazy 4 Challenges C4C290-a masculine card.

All of the papers for this card were already on my table as I had been cleaning out one of my paper holders. When I saw this sketch I knew just what I was going to do with them. Although it is hard to see the colors on these papers (I need a new camera-this one does not capture the colors very well), the patterns on the background papers are copper foils, from the DCWV Naturals stack. Bright, shiny copper foils, and no matter how I turned the camera I could no capture that pretty shine. 'Sigh'. The brown paper is Co'ordinations Foundations Coffee. The speckled papers are from an old Provo Craft pad. I cut the letters out with Lawn Fawn Finlay's Alphabet Capitols. This is a funny set, all the letters except the 'i' are capitols. The i is a dotted i, lower case-what's up with that?
Anyway, I like the simplicity of this card, and I have a very hard time with simple cards-always want to add more-but this one is okay just as it is.

A Graduation card

Time seems to slip away from me and by the time I get around to posting a card I make for a challenge it's already ended. Thus no cards for the last few weeks. Crazy busy with graduation, vacations, and following grandsons to Little League games. Fun, but sure tires this ole gal out!

My first card today uses the sketch from Fusion Card Challenge.  I flipped the sketch on it's side for this card. It also has the dark blue color of the shutter and the gold of the star from the sketch.
This card is for a great-nephew of my husbands. I went on the school web sight to find the school colors, which simply said blue and gold. So my first attempt was just that! Then my daughter said no, the colors are navy blue and gold (not the yellow I had used.) So on to take 2, which I actually like better.

I saw this sentiment (from SU Word Play set) on so many cards on Pinterest, and of course it was no longer available from SU. So I went on eBay looking. The first couple listings had multiple bids and price was already over what original price was. Then there was the next listing-no bids yet, closing in 22 minutes. Decided to watch it. I GOT the whole set for $5 + shipping (which was $5.50, but hey- still cheaper that the others and cheaper that original by far). Meant to be mine, right?
Anyway........This stamp is so appropriate for graduation cards. Such a positive statement.  Hope you enjoy. Leave some love. I always appreciate what others think of my work.

At the beach

I made this card for my husband's brother who has recently been moved to a Home for Veterans. He is in his 80's and his health is failing. He is half way across the country from us, so we don't get to see him often. Hope this card cheers him up a bit when he receives it.

The image is Impression Obsession Boat & Lighthouse. This is my favorite of all the lighthouse image stamps I own. I return to it over and over again for masculine cards. It's stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black on Gina K Pure Luxury cardstock, and colored with Copic Markers.
I simply cut it out and rounded the corners with a corner punch. The background mat is a piece of 12x12 from my scraps-but no idea what brand. It's double sided with white core. I embossed the piece with Darice Beach Waves embossing folder and distressed with a sanding block to bring out the waves. The sentiment is cut with Impression Obsession Greetings dies and the anchor is a Memory Box die. I popped the image up with foam dimensionals.

Will enter this in the following challenges:

Get well for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge

I have a cousin who has not been feeling well. I made this little card for her, sure hope she feels better soon. Been tough for her the last couple years.

I used the sketch from 'Try Stamping on Tuesday' #217.   This is a 5" x 5" card.

The image is a digi image from Bug-a-boo stamps called 'Tulips & Bugs'. I colored it with Copic markers and cut it out with Spellbinders hexagon dies. I cut a mat for it from green and then white cut with SB scalloped hexagons. I ran a purple marker around the edge of the scalloped layer to make it stand out. Polka-dot paper is from a 6x6 Recollections Bright & Basics pad. The flowered base layer is from an old DCWV 8x8 pad from a longgggggg time ago. Seems like this might have been one of the first papers I bought when I started this mad venture in papercrafting. Two purple solid matting cardstocks are from Bazzil.
I added some star dust and lavender stickles to the image. Stamped the sentiment (from Our Daily Bread Designs Mini Tags) with Momento Lux Tuxedo Black and embossed with black embossing powder. Colored a couple SU rhinestones with purple Copic and added for a little more sparkle. Cause, face it, you can never  have too much sparkle!!

I just went out in the kitchen to open the dishwasher so the dishes could air dry and there was a great BIG hanging basket on the counter, Multi-colored mini petunias (caleobrachea [sp.]) from my husband for Mother's Day. Too bad it is too cold out today(40) to hang it out for the poor hummingbirds. Hard to believe it was 84 day before yesterday!! We did need the rain, but it could be a bit warmer.

Robot Birthday

I do believe Spring has arrived. Most of snow is gone except in the woods-even the huge pile that was in our front yard. I need to get my hummingbird and oriole feeders out today.

I recently attended a weekend craft retreat and my goal was to work on cards for Operation Write Home. This is one of the cards I made. I will enter it in the following challenges: Cute Card Thursday #371 - Use a sentiment; Operation Write Home-Our Daily Bread May challenge - Embossing; Addicted to Stamps - #142 Make Your Mark (color image); Simon Says Stamp - Anything goes; and Cheery Lynn #182- Anything Goes.

I love this Robot image from Close to My Heart set 'Robot Family'. He is so cute! Makes a great kids birthday card. He is stamped on Gina K Pure Luxury White cardstock with Momento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Markers. I cut him out with Spellbinders Deckled Long Rectangles, as is the mat. The gears are from Cheery Lynn and cut out of some funky paper my friend gave me-it's sort of thick and very textured. Make great gears. The background mat is embossed with Sizzix Tim Holtz Riveted Metal embossing folder. Words are from Tattered Lace 'Everyday Words' dies. I attached the gears with red brads (probably from Michael's).

Birthday Balloons

I'm getting ready to go on a scrap weekend next week and have been trying to decide what to bring with. I know I want to make kids cards and masculine cards. Have been going through my papers and cutting some down to 6 x 6" or 6 x 12" to take with. I found these scraps found these 2 pieces of design paper and the green mat paper clipped together when I was sorting out some of the papers. Must have had an idea at one time to use them. The challenge over at Seize the Birthday was for a tall and skinny card this week. So here's what I came up with----

This is a 3 1/2" x 7" card. It's pretty simple, but so colorful, don't you think?
The papers are from American Crafts-Tea Party (this is an old pack, but the papers are so bright and colorful, perfect for kids cards). I stamped the balloons from Lil' Inker Designs 'Balloon Builders stamps  in  Momento Bahama Blue and Dandelion and SU Real Red and cut the out with the matching dies. The sentiment is cut from SU Real Red with a Sizzix die.
Will also enter this in the following challenges:

Can hardly wait for next Friday when we will be off to Cedarville for a fun weekend! Yippee!

Red, White & Blue for OWH

I think spring has finally arrived, but ya just never know in the U.P. Low 60's today and sunshine-yea! Might even get a walk in today.

My card today I will enter into the OWH Mid-month throwdown, Red, white & Blue.

This is made with the Memory Box 'Allstar' detail plate. This is so cool! I cut it once with Neenah classic white cardstock for the base. Matted that on some Linen texture navy card. Cut some of the stars out with Bazzil red card and used 3 of the stars popped up with foam dots. Cut the words (Cheery Lynn) with the same red cardstock and adhered with glue pen. Clean & Simple

A Touch of Spring

Cold and rainy here today. But the rain helps the snow to disappear, so it's all okay! I'll just make some more spring cards!!

Image is from Stampin' Up Blessed Easter, stamped with Momento Rich Cocoa ink on Gina K. Pure Luxury cardstock, and colored with Copic Markers. Sentiment from Flourishes Mother's words of Wisdom stamp set. Design paper is Graphic 45, but I couldn't find the pack in my mess (.  Cut it out with SB Curved Rectangles, matted on yellow cut with SB Decrotive labels 8. Light blue and night of navy card bases.

A Daisy Bouquet

Even though there is still plenty of snow on the ground and the temp is not very nice today, it is spring. Sap has been flowing and family has made 10 gallons of Maple syrup so far. Yummmm! So good. Sap ran like crazy yesterday, so should get another 3-4 gallons of syrup with today's boiling.

Another card with purples. What can I say-they were on my work table and they all went together. Guess you can say this is a scrap card, 'cause all but the daisy image came from scraps-even the card base.

The bouquet of daisies is a digi image, but I have no idea where I got it. The 'vase' is a Jolies Mason Jars' sticker. (I wish I had bought more than one pack of these! They are so neat!) The pattern paper I know is K&Co., just not which pack. Colored with Copic markers.  I cut it out with SB Long classic rectangles, matted with SB Deckled long rectangles. Butterfly is SU butterflies embosslit. I have no idea what the sentiment stamp is-this was already stamped in my reject basket. Punched it out with SU Word Window puch, mat puched with SU Modern Label punch. Finished off with 3 clear rhinestones.

Hope spring is blossoming in your neck of the woods. My crocus bed is still buried and the ones on the south side of the house need to be replaced. Have no idea what happened to them-used to be a lot of them there. Have to replant this fall, I guess.

Shining the light

Wow! Where does the time go? Been awhile since I posted again. I have been making cards, just have not had time to post.

For today's card I used the ODBD Lantern stamp, stamped with SU Pear Pizzaz ink, and colored in the lantern and leaves with Copic. All the papers are Stampin' Up Whisper White, Old Olive and Pear Pizzaz.

I used a simple layout and kept the overall design clean and simple. I used Spellbinder's Labels 11 for the image & mat, and Simon Says Stamp Tilted Banner Sayings and Folded Banners die for the sentiment.

Shy Violets?

Another sunny day in Upper Michigan! But still cold although not as bad as it has been. Should have found time for a walk today. Oh, well..........

Getting down to the end of the violet rub-ons. I have one more card to share after this, and 2 more rubons to use. They may have to wait. We'll see.....

This is a bit of an unusual size for me (it's the size of regular 6" envelope), but I just couldn't cut up that background piece of cardstock. It was so pretty with the lattice embossing. Well, I guess the Darice embossing folder is called wire fence, but still, it looks like lattice. I took a little liberty with the sketch, but it really is just a bit longer, all the rest of the elements are there.

I will enter this in the Fab Friday Challenge #58- the sketch

Items Used: SU rhinestones, DCWV light orchid cardstock, purple cardstock from scrap bin, Old Olive cardstock, K&Co. patterned paper (from scrap bin),  Shimmering violets rub-ons, Darice wire fence embossing folder, foam dimensionals.

Violets, Take 2

Here is number 2 of the cards made with the Violet rub-ons. These rub-ons are sooo pretty. Hope my cards are doing them justice.

I  will enter this in the following challlenges:

Even the papers used here are mostly from my scrap bin stash:)

More of Mr. Hedgie

Well, today we have Mr. Hedgie taking a little relaxing time under the shade of a lovely daisy. I just can't get enough of these little fellows. On a gloomy, snowy winter day they go a long way to cheering me up:)

I stamped the Penny Black 'Lazy Days' image with Momento Tuxedo Black on Gina K Pure Luxury white cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I used just the card sketch from the Fusion Card Challenge, which deadline I missed, of course. Anyway, I like the sketch, so that's okay:) He is cut out with Spellbinders Labels One and matted on SU Blackberry Bliss CS cut with SB scalloped labels one. I adhered him to the card base with dimensional foam.
Other items used are:
SU Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon cardstock; SU Moonlight design papers, SU Teeny Tiny Messages,  SU flag punch, & SU Blackberry Bliss Ink.

Pink Carnations

Another sunny day, but soooo cold. Good day to stay inside and color :)

Today's card started out as a one layer, but the ink bled through the cardstock so I had to mat it on some pink.

I actually liked that better, and then I added the silver line and corner stickers, and I liked it even more. It's used Momento Tuxedo black ink to stamp the Carnations (Stampendous) image on Crafter's Companion white cardstock and colored with the pink and olive green Chameleon markers. I used cool grey copic markers to add the background, or shadow.
It was hard to get the lines to show up as grey/silver in the picture, but grey/ silver they are! I do not know what the brand is on the border, corner and word stickers. We used to get them from a webstore in New Zealand, and there was no packaging or name. Sadly, the store does not carry them anymore. We've found some others in different places, but none with the variety that the NZ site offered.

I'm going to enter this in the following challenges:
